86:1By the heaven, and by the nightly visitor3

86:2(and what will show you what is the nightly visitor?

86:3It is the brilliant star):4

86:4there is a guard over every soul.

86:5So let man consider from what he was created.

86:6He was created from an effusing fluid5

86:7which issues from between the loins and the breast-bones.67

86:8Indeed He is able to bring him back [after death],

86:9on the day when the secrets are examined8

86:10and he shall have neither power nor helper.

86:11By the resurgent heaven,9

86:12and by the furrowed earth:10

86:13it is indeed a conclusive discourse,

86:14and not a jest.11

86:15Indeed they are devising a stratagem,

86:16and I [too] am devising a plan.12

86:17So respite the faithless; give them a gentle respite.1314

Commentary on this passage

Verse 7

2.The secret of rebellion by man is that he disregards the reality about himself. Otherwise one who keeps an eye on himself and his originality can only give thanks; he can never be proud and boastful. He cannot be proud because he was created from an impure drop. He will thank because Allah has made him a clean and a pure man from the impurity. Otherwise in the womb of mother he could have been destroyed. And the extra favour is that two different matters were collected and a third was brought into existence. In this Ayat there is also hint that sperm comes out from loins, and female egg from inside the bones of chest, towards which many experts of this field have indicated.
