Commentary on this passage
Verse 16
1.It should be evident that Allah is in absolute authority. But it does not mean that He can act against justice. All His acts are subordinate to intentions and intention can never be regarding a wrong. Though it can be said that He can do whatever He wants. But question is that can He ever love evil and oppression? Wisdom and intellect dictate that His Will can never be regarding wrong acts. Therefore He is the owner of authority but cannot do anything wrong.

- 2
Lauhe Mahfooz - That is in which there cannot be any type of change and transformation.
Benefit
It is related from Ibne Abbas regarding Lauhe Mahfooz that it is as high as the distance from the Earth to the sky and as wide as the distance between the East to the West. Which means that it is the knowledge of Allah in which all the facts are stored and containing the Holy Quran also requires such a large vessel as in it all the realities of the Universe are stored.
