84:23and Allah knows best what they keep to themselves.1

84:24So inform them of a painful punishment,

Commentary on this passage

Verse 24

1.The word Basharat (good-news), with punishment indicates a horrible spiritual torture in which non-believers will get involved and towards which previous Verses point out, that the non-believer was happy in the world and now he prays for death and believers suffered from troubles and now they return towards their own family with perfect happiness. The best occasion of family life is the one when man returns to his family with joy and happiness; in comparison to that no wealth and things of great importance have any standing. If this is not there wealth assumes the form of snake and scorpions. And all wealth becomes the reason of distress.

In the 16-18 Verses the sequence of the events is mentioned.
