Makkan46 verses
79:10They will say, ‘Are we being returned to our earlier state?2
79:15Did you receive the story of Moses,
79:16when his Lord called out to him in the holy valley of Tuwa?7
79:17[And said,] ‘Go to Pharaoh, for indeed he has rebelled,
79:18and say, ‘‘Would you purify yourself?
79:19I will guide you to your Lord, that you may fear [Him]?’’ ’
79:21But he denied, and disobeyed.
79:22Then he turned back, walking swiftly,
79:24saying, ‘I am your exalted lord!’
79:25So Allah seized him with the punishment of this life and the Hereafter.10
79:26There is indeed a moral in that for someone who fears!
79:27Is your creation more prodigious or that of the heaven He has built?
79:29and darkened its night, and brought forth its forenoon.1213
79:30Thereafter He spread out the earth,
79:32setting firm the mountains,
79:33as a [place of] sustenance for you and your livestock.
79:35—the day when man will remember his endeavours
79:36and hell is brought into view for those who can see—
79:37as for him who has been rebellious
79:38and preferred the life of this world,

Commentary on this passage
Verse 18
1.How soft and delicate conversation Moosa (a.s.) has carried out. He did not mention anything about his personality, nor he expressed his greatness. Only that fear of Allah should be created in the heart of the servant and his heart should be purified. But Firon started an uproar and such was the state of his helplessness that though he claimed to be the Great Lord he asked the help of people; that magician may save the divinity of God. Surely such stupid and naughty persons deserve that in the next world they should be punished for haughtiness and should degraded for stupidity. If man does not have the strength and capacity he should not make tall claims and should remain as he is worth.
