Verses 1–8

79. An-Naazi'aat · Those who drag forth

Makkan46 verses

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

وَٱلنَّٰزِعَٰتِ غَرْقًۭا

79:1By those [angels] who wrest [the soul] violently,89

وَٱلنَّٰشِطَٰتِ نَشْطًۭا

79:2by those who draw [it] out gently,10

وَٱلسَّٰبِحَٰتِ سَبْحًۭا

79:3by those who swim smoothly,11

فَٱلسَّٰبِقَٰتِ سَبْقًۭا

79:4by those who, racing, take the lead,12

فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمْرًۭا

79:5by those who direct the affairs [of creatures]:

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ

79:6the day when the Quaker quakes13

تَتْبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ

79:7and is followed by the Successor,14

قُلُوبٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ وَاجِفَةٌ

79:8hearts will be trembling on that day,15

Tafsir

Commentary on this passage

Verse 1

2.Regarding these words there are different opinions among the commentators; some consider it to be angels and some say stars. But the fact is that there is no specific mention in the ayat and the future may throw some light on this mystery. The mention of Qiyamat indicates that angels may be intended because they are the ones who take away souls and they are entrusted most of the affairs and not stars. Otherwise Allah knows the intention of His words. For us the important thing is the sketch of Qiyamat, where in one stroke all the creatures will come and stand in a plain and all those who falsify will have the result that Firon had.

  9. Benefit

    Naza’ - Nashat - Sabah - All these are different actions that is why they are mentioned with the conjuction of and Sabaqat and Tadabbur are the effects of speed therefore their mention is with ‘then’.
