Verses 39–46
79. An-Naazi'aat · Those who drag forth
Makkan46 verses
فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ
79:40But as for him who is awed to stand before his Lord and restrains his soul from [following] desires,2
فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَنَّةَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
79:41his refuge will indeed be paradise.
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰهَا
79:42They ask you concerning the Hour, “When will it set in,3
فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَىٰهَآ
79:43considering your frequent mention of it?”
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ
إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰهَا
79:45You are only a warner for those who are afraid it.
كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَىٰهَا
79:46The day they see it, it shall be as if they had not stayed [in the world] except for an evening or forenoon.5
Tafsir
Commentary on this passage
Verse 40
1.In the hereafter the evident and straight way to salvation is only that man should be having fear of Allah in his heart and in the field of action, he must restrain himself from desires. Desires are fountainhead of man’s destruction and to have control on them is the best intercessor of man for salvation. If man can overpower his desires he will not refuse the facts, nor he will claim wrongly. He will not be involved in haughtiness nor in misconceptions and he will not put forward his opinion in contrast to the commands of Allah. He will not give importance to his dwelling, family, friends and dear ones over the laws of religion and he will not neglect the commands of Allah in greed of material wealth. He will not leave his obligations and will not commit unlawful acts and one who makes himself such, then definitely there can be no doubt about his salvation.

Benefit
Imam Sadiq (a.s.) says that fearing the Maqaame Rab means that everyone should know that Allah is seeing and hearing all his deeds. And He will punish in accordance with the same. This is a position of watch and caution.
Benefit: Of the strange things about the creation of man is that he is such a minute particle in the beginning that if the seeds of all men are collected together they shall not exceed a digit of the finger. The next thing is that till the time of birth he remains straight and at that time of birth he turns around and this facilitates an easy delivery.
