75:15though he should offer excuses [to justify his failings].1
75:16Do not move your tongue with it to hasten it.
75:17Indeed it is up to Us to put it together and to recite it.
75:18And when We have recited it, follow its recitation.
75:19Then, its exposition [also] lies with Us.
75:21and forsake the Hereafter.
75:24and some faces will be scowling on that day,
75:25knowing that they will be dealt out a punishment breaking the spine.5
75:28and he knows that it is the [time of] parting,
75:30that day he shall be driven toward your Lord.
75:31He neither confirmed [the messages of Allah], nor did he pray,
75:32but denied [them] and turned away,
75:35Again, woe to you! Woe to you!
75:36Does man suppose that he has been abandoned to futility?11
75:37Was he not a drop of emitted semen,
75:38and then a clinging mass? Whereat He created and proportioned [him],
75:39and made of him the two sexes, male and female.
75:40Is not [someone like] that able to revive the dead?

Commentary on this passage
Verse 17
1.Actual work of Quran is to collect inside the heart then after that it is the recitation of it otherwise there will be no benefit if the heart remains empty of Quran and only recitation is done. To draw attention of the followers to this point, the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) has been addressed here as second person, that only recitation of Quran and one who knows Quran by heart is of no value till that its meanings and connotation do not find place deep inside the heart and till man does not benefit from it in totality it is of no value knowing by heart.
Verse 31
2.Commentators have stated that these Verses are revealed with reference to Abu Jahl the enemy of Islam, who did not accept what Prophet (s.a.) had said, and did not pray, but continuously ridiculed, till the time when Prophet (s.a.), held his hand and said for you there is punishment and torment and hell and only hell is there but then too there was no effect on him. Allah has reminded people on this occasion again about their position and capacity, and with reference to His Absolute power, tried to prove Qiyamat. Of course with the condition that in humans, the willingness to accept the truth is still there (has still remained there) and if he can accept the word of truth.
