Verses 13–34

فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌۭ وَٰحِدَةٌۭ﴿١٣﴾

69:13When the Trumpet is blown with a single blast

وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ﴿١٤﴾

69:14and the earth and the mountains are lifted and levelled with a single levelling,

فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ﴿١٥﴾

69:15then, on that day, will the Imminent [Hour] befall

وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ وَاهِيَةٌۭ﴿١٦﴾

69:16and the sky will be split open—for it will be frail on that day—

وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ ثَمَٰنِيَةٌۭ﴿١٧﴾

69:17with the angels all over it, and the Throne of your Lord will be borne that day by eight [angels].¹

يَوْمَئِذٍۢ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌۭ﴿١٨﴾

69:18That day you will be presented [before your Lord]: none of your secrets will remain hidden.

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَٰبِيَهْ﴿١٩﴾

69:19As for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say, ‘Here, take and read my book!²³

إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ﴿٢٠﴾

69:20Indeed I knew that I will encounter my account [of deeds].’⁴

فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍۢ رَّاضِيَةٍۢ﴿٢١﴾

69:21So he will have a pleasant life,

فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍۢ﴿٢٢﴾

69:22in an elevated garden,

قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌۭ﴿٢٣﴾

69:23whose clusters [of fruits] will be within easy reach.⁵

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ﴿٢٤﴾

69:24[He will be told]: ‘Enjoy your food and drink, for what you had sent in advance in past days [for your future life].’⁶

وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَٰبِيَهْ﴿٢٥﴾

69:25But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he will say, ‘I wish I had not been given my book,

وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ﴿٢٦﴾

69:26nor had I ever known what my account is!

يَٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ﴿٢٧﴾

69:27I wish death had been the end of it all!⁷

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ﴿٢٨﴾

69:28My wealth did not avail me.

هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَٰنِيَهْ﴿٢٩﴾

69:29My authority has left me.’

خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ﴿٣٠﴾

69:30[The angels will be told:] ‘Seize him, and fetter him!

ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ﴿٣١﴾

69:31Then put him into hell.

ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍۢ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًۭا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ﴿٣٢﴾

69:32Then bind him in a chain, seventy cubits in length.⁸

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ﴿٣٣﴾

69:33Indeed he had no faith in Allah, the All-supreme,

وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ﴿٣٤﴾

69:34and he did not urge the feeding of the needy,
