59. Al-Hashr · The Exile

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
سَبَّحَ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
59:1Whatever there is in the heavens and whatever there is in the earth glorifies Allah, and He is the All-mighty, the All-wise.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ مِن دِيَٰرِهِمْ لِأَوَّلِ ٱلْحَشْرِ ۚ مَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن يَخْرُجُوا۟ ۖ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُم مَّانِعَتُهُمْ حُصُونُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ فَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَمْ يَحْتَسِبُوا۟ ۖ وَقَذَفَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلرُّعْبَ ۚ يُخْرِبُونَ بُيُوتَهُم بِأَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَيْدِى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَٱعْتَبِرُوا۟ يَٰٓأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَبْصَٰرِ
59:2It is He who expelled the faithless belonging to the People of the Book from their homes at the outset of [their] en masse banishment. You did not think that they would go out, and they thought their fortresses would protect them from Allah. But Allah came at them from whence they did not suppose and He cast terror into their hearts. They demolish their houses with their own hands and the hands of the faithful. So take lesson, O you who have insight!3
وَلَوْلَآ أَن كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْجَلَآءَ لَعَذَّبَهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ عَذَابُ ٱلنَّارِ
59:3If Allah had not ordained banishment for them, He would have surely punished them in this world, and in the Hereafter, there is the punishment of the Fire for them.

Commentary on this passage
Verse 2
2.This Surah was revealed ahout Bani Nuzayr, which was a tribe of Jews. They had made a peace treaty with Prophet of Islam (s.a.w.s.). And both were living peaceful life in Medina. But when in the battle of Uhud Muslims could not firmly stand and they almost lost the battle, their leader Kaab-bin-Ashraf started reciting poetry in satire of the Prophet (s.a.). The Prophet (s.a.) gave order to kill him, and sent an army and besieged the Jews. There hypocrites conspired with the Jews, that they would support them in a confrontation with Muslims. But the siege continued for 21 days and not a single sympathizer came out, and in the end the Jews had to sign a treaty to be banished from Medina. On each camel they took three persons with goods and went away forever. Commentators have stated that this was the first punishment for the Jews. After that Umar drove them out for the second time, but it is astonishing that today those very Muslims reciting Kalimah of Prophet (s.a.) and having special respect for Umar are befriending and the Jews and hurting both the souls. They do not have this much sense also that this way they cannot act according to the character of the first two Caliphs. May Allah ruin the politics of the world that it has snatched away everything from the Muslims and destroyed the respect of Islam also. While Allah is always ready to help the Muslims in an unseen way and for that supplies the provisions (collects equipage). The fear in the hearts of Jews in itself is a best means, because of which till today the Jews are trembling and hypocrite Muslims are trembling because of the fear of these Jews and no one has guts to confront the real true Muslims.

Benefit: The 2nd ayat indicates the great effect of the help of Allah which was mentioned in the Battle of Badr and the Battle of Ahzab and also in the last Jihad of Islam, there would be three helpers: Angels, believers and fear.
