58:21Allah has ordained: ‘I shall surely prevail, I and My apostles.’ Indeed Allah is all-strong, all-mighty.

58:22You will not find a people believing in Allah and the Last Day endearing those who oppose Allah and His Apostle even though they were their own parents, or children, or brothers, or kinsfolk. [For] such, He has written faith into their hearts and strengthened them with a spirit from Him. He will admit them into gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever], Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. They are Allah’s confederates. Look! The confederates of Allah are indeed felicitous!12

Commentary on this passage

Verse 1

1.It is the promise of Allah which is existing in all the periods of time and it will remain so and surely the last prevalence is for the laws of Allah and His Prophet (s.a.). The ever coming of the false spurious is just for a moment. And the authority of the truth is in fact forever eternal, and it has a status of being permanent. For which there is a famous proverb that “Lil-batil Joolah-Walilhaqqe Dulah”. Batil is quick and timely movement and haq is having one property and authority.

Explanations of words and phrases in these verses

  1. Benefit

Here five rewards are announced for Hizbullah, three of whom are for the world and two for the Hereafter and the most important thing is their support by the soul of faith regarding which Imam Baqir (a.s.) has said: The spirit of faith leaves the person who fornicates. Indeed we are for Allah.

  2. 1

Allah and Hereafter are mentioned in the stage of Eiman and Allah and Prophet are mentioned in the stage of controversy which indicates that the faith of one who opposed the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) also lacks faith in Allah and the Hereafter.

  3. 2

For perfection of character the person should see both the sides. That the person should be satisfied with the will of Allah and Allah should be pleased with the deeds of man. Otherwise those who complain that Allah has not given them much will not have any share in the Hereafter. Man should learn contentment in the world and there would be a possibility he would get Paradise in the Hereafter. The same satisfaction and contentment is that special spirit that is bestowed on the believers and through which they are praised that they are thankful and not complaining.
