Commentary on this passage
Verse 17
1.There are three groups of the servants of Allah, companions (people) of right hand, companion (people) of (north) left hand and trusted favourites. The highest position among all those is of the former people and that of the trusted favourites. For whom arrangements of all kinds of divine blessings is done. (1) Paradise of comfortable stay. (2) Throne of pearls and rubies to sit on. (3) Best of pillows for leaning. (4) Perpetual youths to serve them. (5) Goblet and ewers as vessels. (6) Pure drink for drinking. (7) Fruits as they choose. (8) Flesh of fowl such as they desire to eat. (9) Hoorul Ein as spouses. (10) Surroundings without any vain talks and without any sinful discourse. (11) Talk only peace, peace. After this second stage is that of the (People) companions of right hand, for whom. (i) Surroundings thornless lote-trees and banana trees (with fruits) one above another. (ii) Atmosphere : extended shade. (iii) For drinking : water flowing constantly. (iv) For eating : abundant fruit. (v) For sitting : exalted thrones. (vi) For wives virgins, loving and equal in age. And the last stage is for the companions of north (left hand). The total recompense of whose deeds is hot wind and boiling water, and shade of black smoke and tree of Zaqqoom. This is because these were denying Qiyamat and were involved in polytheism and taking false oath on their denial. It is obvious that those who are denying Qiyamat, what part can they get in Qiyamat? And what right he has to receive any grace?
