Verses 40–62

وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُۥ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ﴿٤٠﴾

53:40and that he will soon be shown his endeavour,

ثُمَّ يُجْزَىٰهُ ٱلْجَزَآءَ ٱلْأَوْفَىٰ﴿٤١﴾

53:41then he will be rewarded for it with the fullest reward;

وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ﴿٤٢﴾

53:42that the terminus is toward your Lord,

وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ﴿٤٣﴾

53:43that it is He who makes [men] laugh, and weep,

وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا﴿٤٤﴾

53:44that it is He who brings death and gives life,

وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰ﴿٤٥﴾

53:45that it is He who created the mates, the male and the female,

مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ﴿٤٦﴾

53:46from a drop of [seminal] fluid when emitted;¹

وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ﴿٤٧﴾

53:47that with Him lies the second genesis,

وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْنَىٰ﴿٤٨﴾

53:48that it is He who enriches and grants possessions,

وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعْرَىٰ﴿٤٩﴾

53:49that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius;²

وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا ٱلْأُولَىٰ﴿٥٠﴾

53:50that it is He who destroyed the former ‘Ad,

وَثَمُودَا۟ فَمَآ أَبْقَىٰ﴿٥١﴾

53:51and Thamud, sparing none [of them];

وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍۢ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ﴿٥٢﴾

53:52and the people of Noah before that; indeed they were more unjust and rebellious;

وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ﴿٥٣﴾

53:53and He overthrew the town that was overturned,

فَغَشَّىٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ﴿٥٤﴾

53:54covering it with what covered it.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ﴿٥٥﴾

53:55Then which of the bounties of your Lord will you dispute?

هَٰذَا نَذِيرٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلْأُولَىٰٓ﴿٥٦﴾

53:56This is a warner, [in the tradition] of the warners of old.

أَزِفَتِ ٱلْءَازِفَةُ﴿٥٧﴾

53:57The Imminent [Hour] is near at hand.³

لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ﴿٥٨﴾

53:58There is none who may unveil it besides Allah.

أَفَمِنْ هَٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ﴿٥٩﴾

53:59Will you then wonder at this discourse,

وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ﴿٦٠﴾

53:60and laugh and not weep,

وَأَنتُمْ سَٰمِدُونَ﴿٦١﴾

53:61while you remain heedless?!

فَٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ ۩﴿٦٢﴾

53:62So prostrate yourselves to Allah and worship Him!⁴
