بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

حمٓ

45:1Ha, Meem.

تَنزِيلُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ

45:2The [gradual] sending down of the Book is from Allah, the All-mighty, All-wise.

إِنَّ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ لَءَايَٰتٍۢ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

45:3In the heavens and the earth there are indeed signs for the faithful,

وَفِى خَلْقِكُمْ وَمَا يَبُثُّ مِن دَآبَّةٍ ءَايَٰتٌۭ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يُوقِنُونَ

45:4There are signs for people who have certainty in your own creation and in animals, He scatters abroad.

وَٱخْتِلَٰفِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مِن رِّزْقٍۢ فَأَحْيَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا وَتَصْرِيفِ ٱلرِّيَٰحِ ءَايَٰتٌۭ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَعْقِلُونَ

45:5There are signs for people who exercise their reason in the alternation of night and day, in the provision that Allah sends down from the sky, with which He revives the earth after its death, and in the changing of the winds.23

تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱللَّهِ نَتْلُوهَا عَلَيْكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖ فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ وَءَايَٰتِهِۦ يُؤْمِنُونَ

45:6These are the signs of Allah that We recite for you in truth. So what discourse will they believe after Allah and His signs?

Commentary on this passage

Verse 5

2.Generally the Quran has mentioned about rain from the clouds or as it is told that your sustenance is in the heavens or We have a great treasure of bounties and We are sending down. But here at this place both are mixed together and Allah has mentioned sustenance instead of rain. It does not mean that it is Manna and Quails. It denotes that water causes fertilization with the help of the rays of the sun etc. It means that Allah has drawn attention towards this point that you are not only people with eyes that you can only see water and sunlight. You are intelligent therefore you should be able to see the arrangement of your sustenance behind the water and the rays of the sun. And you have to consider about the changing of winds. And not to imagine that He is sending the rain and the wind and the rays of the sun and we are creating sustenance and obtaining it. Never, Allah is the Provider of all sustenance. If He prevents His bounties, the system of sustenance would be closed forever.

    Ikhtilaafe Lailo Nahar - That is the coming of one over the other. Tasrife Riyahe - The blowing winds in various directions.

    It should be clear that in these ayats the signs of the heavens and the earth are related to the believers. The creation of man and the large number of animals are related to the people of certainty and the alteration of day and night, the falling of sustenance from sky and the changes of the winds are related to the people of intellect and it is so probably because the first thing is clear. Only requirement is faith. Everyone believes in the second but certainty is required and the third kind needs great insight. Therefore none except the people of intellect can decide ahout it.

  3. Benefit

    This chapter is also Surah Shariat which is taken from its 18th Ayat. One merit of this Surah is that it begins with Aziz-ul-Hakeem and its concludes on the same quality of Allah.
