Makkan83 verses
36:71Have they not seen that We have created for them—of what Our hands have worked—cattle, so they have become their masters?1
36:72And We made them tractable for them; so some of them make their mounts and some of them they eat.
36:73There are other benefits for them therein, and drinks. Will they not then give thanks?
36:74They have taken gods besides Allah, [hoping] that they might be helped [by the fake deities].
36:75[But] they cannot help them, while they [themselves] are an army mobilized for their defence.2
36:76So do not let their remarks grieve you. We indeed know whatever they hide and whatever they disclose.
36:77Does not man see that We created him from a drop of [seminal] fluid, and, behold, he is an open contender!?
36:78He draws comparisons for Us, and forgets his own creation. He says, ‘Who shall revive the bones when they have decayed?’*
36:79Say, ‘He will revive them who produced them the first time, and He has knowledge of all creation.
36:80He, who made for you fire out of the green tree, and, behold, you light fire from it!
36:81Is not He who created the heavens and the earth able to create the like of them? Yes indeed! He is the All-creator, the All-knowing.
36:82All His command, when He wills something, is to say to it ‘Be,’ and it is.
36:83So immaculate is He in whose hand is the dominion of all things, and to whom you shall be brought back.

Commentary on this passage
Verse 79
1.The deniers of the resurrection day have the following doubts. (1) When bones of dead would be scattered and rotten how would they tum to life again? In reply it is said that a man is created from dust. He, Who can create a man from dust initially. can also recreate from dust. (2) How will the dispersed parts of body separate from one another in the dust? The reply is that Allah is cognizant of all creation and can separate the parts of the body of all creatures. He has no difficulty in this. (3) There is a contrast between dust and life. And how can one be created from the other. Its answer is that We have created fire from the green tree. Whereas we find difference in greenery and fire. Then He Who can accomplish this can also give life after the death.

Benefit
In the 78th ayat there is mention of Ubayy Bin Khalaf’s objection against Qiyamat and the reply to that objection is also prescribed. After this by stating the example of creation of fire from green trees attention is invited towards some matters. (1) The Almighty can create opposites from opposites. (2) The Green trees are capable of producing fire. (3) The motion between trees creates fire and that is what causes forest fires. (4) The Green trees absorb the rays of the sun and its return is in the form of fire.

This is another invitation for thanksgiving that all the animals are created by Allah and all the qualities that you see in them. That is if they are alive they produce milk and if they are slaughtered their meat is conserved and even the extra parts of their body like wool and hair are not wasted. If they are skinned, the skin is used for various purposes. All this is due to the Might of Allah. Thus why do you not thank for Our bounties.

This statement is applicable to both the groups. That neither the people can benefit these gods nor can these gods help the people in any way. But it is the misfortune of man that he is the bodyguard of such helpless gods. And he does not see that one who is needy cannot make anyone needless. Benefit, The matter of resurrection is a natural action and the human actions also need it. For this the proof of wisdom is also established. And its necessity is also for the ending of universal controversies, which is the desire of every heart that feels and everyone who has perfect nature. Benefit: According to some commentators the words ‘Rabb’ before Saffat is veiled and the Almighty has sworn by His Being because He cannot swear by the created things. But the problem is that this interpretation is not possible ‘was samaa wa maa Banaha’ that here the heavens and its creator both are mentioned.
