Makkan93 verses

27:67The faithless say, ‘What! When we and our fathers have become dust shall we be raised [from the dead]?

27:68We and our fathers were promised this before. [But] these are just myths of the ancients.’

27:69Say, ‘Travel over the land and observe how was the fate of the guilty.’

27:70Do not grieve for them, and do not be upset by their guile.

27:71They say, ‘When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?’

27:72Say, ‘Perhaps there is right behind you some of what you seek to hasten.’1

27:73Indeed your Lord is gracious to mankind, but most of them do not give thanks.

27:74Your Lord knows whatever their breasts conceal, and whatever they disclose.

27:75There is no invisible thing in the heaven and the earth but it is in a manifest Book.

27:76This Quran recounts for the Children of Israel most of what they differ about,

27:77and it is indeed a guidance and mercy for the faithful.

27:78Your Lord will decide between them by His judgement, and He is the All-mighty, the All-knowing.

27:79So put your trust in Allah, for you indeed stand on the manifest truth.

Explanations of words and phrases in these verses

  1. 1

It is such a terrible warning from Allah that believers should shudder at it. That when we have no knowledge and one with knowledge is telling us that the chastisement is just behind us, bow can we ignore this warning?

  2. Benefit

The 72nd ayat is an indication that delay in chastisement is Allah’s mercy. Allah knows what is in the hearts of people and He has recorded the Knowledge of every unseen in the manifest book. It is expressed in Quranic judgments.
