Commentary on this passage
Verse 7
1.This mentality is found in every era and even today the personality is gauged by wealth and capital instead of perfection and magnanimity and people said this Prophet would be Prophet if he had gardens and capital and palaces because he does not possess such things and he eats also visits the markets. Therefore he is not capable of Apostleship and a book like Holy Quran cannot be revealed on such an ordinary man. Who can make these poor people to understand that Apostleship has no concern with wealth and riches? This is a divine gift. which is granted due to perfection and knowledge and for the repayment he has to keep relation with the common people. If the Apostle would be busy in the markets away from the people how would he complete the work of reformation? Therefore relationship is necessary for reformation and people taunt him to break this connection so that the prophet (s.a.w.s.) separate from the society and lead a retired life. Though they knew that the prophet (s.a.w.s.) would not disregard his duty due to their taunting.

Benefit
The unbelievers raise three objections: (i) The Holy Quran has nothing but ancient stories. (ii) This is dictated by a person day and night. (iii) The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) has learnt reading and writing. It is not correct when he says that he is unlettered. The Almighty Allah by referring to a revelation and His knowledge has replied to all the objections at once.
- 1
The miraculous aspect of the eloquence of the Quran is that it speaks so clearly that even the most illiterate person can understand. Thus here it gives preference to loss over profit and death over life and also declared that handmade gods are not even capable of causing harm, leave alone any benefit. They are not even able to die themselves, how can they have control over life.
- 2
When they realized that calling Quran a human writing was not going to cut any ice they began to say what was special in the message of Quran? It is a collection of ancient tales. Now this is the method of all the followers of falsehood. When they are not able to face a personality they indulge in false allegations.
Benefit
Amthal in the 9th ayat, it denotes baseless things. Otherwise the infidels had neither given an example nor stated similes.
