25:21Those who do not expect to encounter Us say, ‘Why have angels not been sent down to us, or why do we not see our Lord?’ Certainly, they are full of arrogance within their souls and have become terribly defiant.1

25:22The day they will see the angels, there will be no good news for the guilty on that day, and they will say, ‘Keep off [from paradise]!’2

25:23Then We shall attend to the works they have done and then turn them into scattered dust.3

25:24On that day the inhabitants of paradise will be in the best abode and an excellent resting place.4

25:25The day when the sky with its clouds will be split open, and the angels will be sent down [in a majestic] descent,5

25:26on that day true sovereignty will belong to the All-beneficent, and it will be a hard day for the faithless.

25:27It will be a day when the wrongdoer will bite his hands, saying, ‘I wish I had followed the Apostle’s way!

25:28Woe to me! I wish I had not taken so and so as a friend!*

25:29Certainly he led me astray from the Reminder after it had come to me, and Satan is a deserter of man.’

25:30And the Apostle will say, ‘O my Lord! Indeed my people consigned this Quran to oblivion.’

25:31That is how for every prophet We assigned an enemy from among the guilty, and your Lord suffices as helper and guide.

25:32The faithless say, ‘Why has not the Quran been sent down to him all at once?’ So it was, that We may strengthen your heart with it, and We have recited it [to you] in a measured tone.

Commentary on this passage

Verse 28

1.A man has become completely careless about the Doomsday after getting wealth and friends in the world and makes fun of religious instruction and Holy places and forgets that the resurrection Day will be very severe and no one will be his helper on this day. And each cruel man will bite his hands in anger and say, 0’ would that I did not make that particular man my friend. It is the duty of Muslims to first recognize the result before making friendship and love with a particular person and avoid company of those who will of no help on the Day of Resurrection. He will get sorrow and grief in their friendship and nothing else.

Verse 30

2.To ignore does not construe the non-recitation of the Holy Quran and that a man who has memorized and recitated should not be satisfied that he has completed the dues of the Holy Quran and have became safe from the call of the Apostle. On the contrary he has to depend on Quran in all walks of his life. Therefore reciting Quran morning and evening, does not make one free from responsibility until one makes it the authority in every problem of his life and if he does not he would be considered as one who has ignored the Quran,
