Commentary on this passage
Verse 54
1.Fulfillment of a promise mayor may not be obligatory in accordance with religious law hut it is the most excellent of attributes in human life as far as morality is concerned. Thus it is said concerning Ismail (a.s.) that he agreed to wait for a person. He waited there for days without altering his position. To put forward the excuse of previous occupation for the non-fulfillment of a promise is the best proof of a man’s weakness of will power.
Verse 58
2.ldris (a.s.), etc. are from ‘he progeny of Adam (a.s.) and from the children of Nuh (a.s.) are Ibrahim (a.s.), etc. while from his progeny are Moosa (a.s.), etc. and the common attribute of them all is wailing and obeisance to the earth in fear and dread of God.
Verse 62
3.The clear proclamation of the Ayah is that there is no place for the incongruous in the heavens. Now, the ones devoted to song and dance should deliberate on the location to satisfy their cravings.
Verse 63
4.The word ‘inheritance’ directs to the fact that the Lord has made the heaven as the ownership of the God fearing. What will then be the authority of the Imam (leader) of the pious ones?

This is also an indication towards the spiritual status of Idris (a,s.). Though some commentators think it is with regard to his ascension to the heavens. It should be clear that Idris (a.s.) was the great grandfather of Nuh (a.s.) and he was closer to Adam (a.s.).
