15. Al-Hijr · The Rock
Makkan99 verses
ٱلَّذِينَ جَعَلُوا۟ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ عِضِينَ
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
15:92By your Lord, We will question them all
عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
15:93concerning what they used to do.
فَٱصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
15:94So proclaim what you have been commanded, and turn away from the polytheists.
إِنَّا كَفَيْنَٰكَ ٱلْمُسْتَهْزِءِينَ
15:95Indeed We will suffice you against the deriders
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ ۚ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
15:96—those who set up another deity besides Allah. Soon they will know!
وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ
15:97Certainly We know that you become upset because of what they say.
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
15:98So celebrate the praise of your Lord and be among those who prostrate,
وَٱعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ
15:99and worship your Lord until certainty comes to you.
Tafsir
Commentary on this passage
Infidels have divided the Quran. It means that some were ready to believe some parts and some completely refused it. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) became sad of this state of affairs that these people are being wretched and misguided without any reason. Allah consoled them and said do not worry about it and pray to Me only. Prayer is the only source of satisfaction for the soul.
Infidels and polytheists were mocking the Prophet of Islam (s.a.w.s.) every time and said: Where is the chastisement regarding which you warn us and why does it not descend soon? Allah had given them respite. As a result the Prophet of Islam (s.a.w.s.) became sad. Seeing His Prophet’s sorrow Allah informed him that chastisement is very near and He sent down the chastisement on five chief people of infidels. (i) An arrow transfixed in the legs of Walid Bin Mughairah and he died. (ii) A thompierced the legof Aas Bin Daiel and he died (iii) Aswad Bin Matlub became blind and died (iv) Aswad Bin Abdul Gaus died of dropsy (v) Pus started flowing from the nose of Harith Bin Talha and he died in this way.

Benefit
98th and 99th ayat are c1ear proofs that praise of Allah, prostration and worship are the solution to all difficulties and without these there is no solution to the problems of this life. Also the addressing of the prophet indicates that firm belief means death because the prophet had firm belief from day one.
