بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍۢ وَتَبَّ

111:1Perish the hands of Abu Lahab, and perish he!345

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ

111:2Neither his wealth availed him, nor what he had earned.

سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًۭا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍۢ

111:3Soon he will enter the blazing fire,

وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَبِ

111:4and his wife [too], the firewood carrier,6789

فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌۭ مِّن مَّسَدٍۭ

111:5with a rope of palm fibre around her neck.

Tafsir

Commentary on this passage

Verse 1

2.Standing on Mt. Safa the Prophet of Islam (s.a.w.s.) made the first declaration that I am appointed as the Prophet. Abu Lahab said: You be destroyed. you have collected everyone for what reason? Nature turned the same words on him and his wife was also included, who was putting thorns in the path of the Prophet (s.a.) or in another way collected fire wood and burnt it. Except for fire, what can be the end of such a woman?

  8. Benefit

    This Surah proves that consequences of a deed is not in relationships but it is in character. Abu Lahab was expelled from the family and Salman was included in Ahle Bayt (a.s.).
