Makkan109 verses
10:53They inquire of you, ‘Is it true?’ Say, ‘Yes! By my Lord, it is true, and you cannot frustrate [Him].’1
10:54Were any soul that has done wrong to possess whatever there is on the earth, it would surely offer it for ransom. They will hide their remorse when they sight the punishment; and judgement will be made between them with justice and they will not be wronged.
10:55Look! To Allah indeed belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. Look! Allah’s promise is indeed true; but most of them do not know.
10:56It is He who gives life and brings death, and to Him you shall be brought back.
10:57O mankind! There has certainly come to you an advice from your Lord, and a cure for what is in the breasts, and a guidance and mercy for the faithful.
10:58Say, ‘In Allah’s grace and His mercy—let them rejoice in that! It is better than what they amass.’
10:59Say, ‘Have you regarded what Allah has sent down for you of [His] provision, whereupon you have made some of it unlawful and [some] lawful?’ Say, ‘Did Allah give you the sanction [to do so], or do you fabricate a lie against Allah?’
10:60What is the idea of those who fabricate lies against Allah [concerning their situation] on the Day of Resurrection? Indeed Allah is gracious to mankind, but most of them do not give thanks.
10:61You do not engage in any work, neither do you recite any part of the Quran, nor do you perform any deed without Our being witness over you when you are engaged therein. Not an atom’s weight escapes your Lord in the earth or in the sky, nor [is there] anything smaller than that nor bigger, but it is in a manifest Book.2

Commentary on this passage
Verse 54
1.There is doubt that ransom, shamefulness and sorrow become useful against Allah’s wrath. However there is a fixed period for everything. The world is the house of good deeds. The good deeds performed in the world would be good for you. After that if the Resurrection Day and chastisement appear and you offer the ransom of whole world it would be of no use. Monetary wealth is useful in the world but it is of no use in the hereafter. This is the warning for the faithful believers that they should not be anxious to die like infidels and must do good in the world such as to pay Khums and Zakat so that they do not have to pay ransom in the hereafter and they should repent here so that they do not feel ashamed later.
Verse 59
2.Some people are so wicked that though Allah provides them sustenance they make it unlawful and lawful of their own accord. If Allah forbids something, they make it lawful and if Allah allows it, they make it unlawful.

Explanations of words and phrases in these verses
- 1
The Almighty Allah has bestowed four qualities on the Holy Quran. It advises those who can understand. It cures some astray and for the people of the faith it is a cause for mercy and forgiveness. It is obvious that such a virtuous book is a result of divine mercy and favour. Thus the believers should be pleased at its revelation that a great divine favour has been bestowed. Wealth and property is of no value in comparison to this.
Benefit: The word ‘Haqq’ in the 53rd ayat indicates its occurrence and it is not the opposite of falsehood and this question is for most of the part a humorous way of saying. Although it can be true for some polytheists, just as concealment of regret is to avoid more degradation.

Shaan and baal means condition. Zarra is also a small ant and it could refer to small particles of dust. ‘Kitab’ denotes the protected tablet (Lauh-eMahfooz), that is having all the knowledges of the Universe and after this the knowledge of the Manifest Book (Kitabul Mubeen) has been given to Imamul Mubeen (The Manifest Imam).
Benefit
It should be clear that though the centre of spiritual deeds is the soul they have also a close relationship with the brain and the heart. The brain is affected by spiritual deeds and the heart is affected by sentimental deeds. That is why the Quran is said to be cure of the heart.
