Verses 7–8

98. Al-Bayyina · The Evidence

Madinan8 verses

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمْ خَيْرُ ٱلْبَرِيَّةِ

98:7Indeed those who have faith and do righteous deeds—it is they who are the best of creatures.1

جَزَآؤُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّٰتُ عَدْنٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًۭا ۖ رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِىَ رَبَّهُۥ

98:8Their reward, near their Lord, is the Gardens of Eden, with streams running in them, to remain in them forever. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. That is for those who fear their Lord.2

Tafsir

Commentary on this passage

Verse 8

1.It is a clear indication that for salvation only good deeds are not enough that man may consider certain worship acts to be the aim of his life, rather along with that in the depths of the heart there should be fear of Allah too which will always supervise the deeds and will never allow man to deviate from the true path.

    Bareeya - Creatures, it is derived from Baraa and its real fonn is Baryaa (dust) as man is created from dust.

  2. Benefit

    The reporting of the earth is explained in traditions in the following way that whatever action one commits on earth is recorded like fingerprints of sinners on the earth and it will become visible on the day of Qiyamat. Ali (a.s.) used to pray after distributing the funds of Baitul Maal so that the Earth will testify that he has disposed the funds in an honest way.
