82. Al-Infitaar · The Cleaving

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ
وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ
وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ
وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ
عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌۭ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ
82:5then a soul shall know what it has sent ahead and left behind.

Benefit
The fifth ayat is proof that the effects of our deeds are permanent and they are surely going to become apparent one day. Therefore it is the duty of everyone that we should leave good examples and we must not leave bad examples, because we would have to bear its consequences.

Infitaar - It is derived from fitr, that is to split.
