Verses 23–30

67. Al-Mulk · The Sovereignty

Makkan30 verses

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَكُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۖ قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ

67:23Say, ‘It is He who created you, and made for you hearing, eyesight, and hearts. Little do you thank.’

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلَّذِى ذَرَأَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ

67:24Say, ‘It is He who created you on the earth, and toward Him you will be mustered.’1

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

67:25They say, ‘When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?’2

قُلْ إِنَّمَا ٱلْعِلْمُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ

67:26Say, ‘Its knowledge is only with Allah; I am only a manifest warner.’

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ زُلْفَةًۭ سِيٓـَٔتْ وُجُوهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَقِيلَ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَدَّعُونَ

67:27When they see it brought near, the countenances of the faithless will be contorted, and [they will be] told, ‘This is what you were asking for!’345

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَهْلَكَنِىَ ٱللَّهُ وَمَن مَّعِىَ أَوْ رَحِمَنَا فَمَن يُجِيرُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍۢ

67:28Say, ‘Tell me, whether Allah destroys me and those who are with me, or He has mercy on us, who will shelter the faithless from a painful punishment?’

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ

67:29Say, ‘He is the All-beneficent; we have faith in Him, and in Him do we trust. Soon you will know who is in manifest error.’

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَصْبَحَ مَآؤُكُمْ غَوْرًۭا فَمَن يَأْتِيكُم بِمَآءٍۢ مَّعِينٍۭ

67:30Say, ‘Tell me, should your water sink down [into the ground], who will bring you running water?’67

Explanations of words and phrases in these verses

    Zaraakum - That is He created and spread them out.

    Waa’ad - That is Ma’ood - That which is promised - that is Qiyamat.

    Zulfa - Near.

    Siyyat Wujoohehim - Signs of insult and degradation became apparent on the faces.

    Taddaoon - That which they were demanding.

    Benefit: The 27th ayat is considered to be related to the reappearance of the Imam of the age. That the reappearance of Imam after occultation and the removal of all evil from the Earth is not possible by anyone except Allah. The blessed Surah begins with Kingship and ends at Mercy.

    Ghaur - Water that is absorbed by the earth.

    Maeen - Flowing or apparent, that which is visible.
