6:131This is because your Lord would never destroy the towns unjustly while their people were unaware.
6:132For everyone there are ranks in accordance with what they have done; and your Lord is not oblivious of what they do.1
6:133Your Lord is the All-sufficient dispenser of mercy. If He wishes, He will take you away, and make whomever He wishes succeed you, just as He produced you from the descendants of another people.
6:134Indeed what you are promised will surely come, and you will not be able to thwart it.
6:135Say, ‘O my people, act according to your ability; I too am acting. Soon you will know in whose favour the outcome of that abode will be. Indeed the wrongdoers will not be felicitous.’
6:136They dedicate a portion to Allah out of what He has created of the crops and cattle, and say, ‘This is for Allah,’ so do they maintain, ‘and this is for our partners.’ But what is for their partners does not reach Allah, and what is for Allah reaches their partners. Evil is the judgement that they make.
6:137That is how to most of the polytheists the slaying of their children is presented as decorous by those whom they ascribe as partners [to Allah], that they may ruin them and confound their religion for them. Had Allah wished, they would not have done it. So leave them with what they fabricate.23

Commentary on this passage
Verse 133
1.Allah draws attention of infidels and polytheists through this point that We do not care of you. We have removed the formal kinship that keeps you attached to their place. We can destroy you and can establish new group of people but this is Our favour, We have not destroyed you and have given a chance to come to the right path. We are not only indifferent but also praiseworthy. The demands of indifference, was that We would destroy you but to adopt nice and beautiful deed demands that We have given you liberty.
What a pity, that Allah has created the whole universe and there is no interference of idols in His creation but besides this the idol worshippers have made a rule that one share is fixed for their deities for handing over to their devotees and another ordinary share handover to Allah. And then if they both were promiscuous. they took away the share of their gods from the given share to Al1ah and wasted Allah’s share. Though on fundamental basis both were unresponsive. Allah does not want anything and there was no expenditure for idols. They cannot take any share but besides this it was divided in this manner in that it was the criticism of Allah’s magnificence and glorification of idols. This was the decision that no intelligent person could tolerate: Be it known, that idols do not misled people, they are absolutely helpless. This work is done by their priests. This happens in such communities where the bewildering is given importance and definite is thrown out of favour.

Indeed there are grades of every type of action. In evil deeds we have the slavery of a person to the exploitation of nations. From female infanticide to the atom bomb. Similarly the good deeds are as varying as helping a poor to the life in community. It is spread from the colonization to the eradication of the murder of an unjust person.

This laam is known as the laam-e-Aqbat that the participants had not advised killing of the children due to destruction and devastation. They just wanted to express the divinity and exalted position of their idols. The result was that people continued to be destroyed and there was a visible decrease in population.

This tone is repeatedly used to console the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.). That he must be grieved by the behaviour of the people, but he must continue his work. When Allah, being the absolute power could bear to see their inequity the Prophet (s.a.) was just His servant.
Benefit
Sacrificing for the idols could denote the killing of children at the altar of idols or female infanticide by burying them alive. Or when all the sacrificial animals are exhausted they sacrificed their children.
