57. Al-Hadid · The Iron

Madinan29 verses

57:25Certainly We sent Our apostles with manifest proofs, and We sent down with them the Book and the Balance, so that mankind may maintain justice; and We sent down iron, in which there is great might and uses for mankind, and so that Allah may know those who help Him and His apostles [with faith] in the Unseen. Indeed Allah is all-strong, all-mighty.1234

57:26Certainly We sent Noah and Abraham and We ordained among their descendants prophethood and the Book. Some of them are [rightly] guided, and many of them are transgressors.

57:27Then We followed them up with Our apostles and We followed [them] with Jesus son of Mary, and We gave him the Evangel, and We put kindness and mercy into the hearts of those who followed him. But as for monasticism, they innovated it—We had not prescribed it for them—only seeking Allah’s pleasure. Yet they did not observe it with due observance. So We gave to the faithful among them their [due] reward, but many of them are transgressors.56

57:28O you who have faith! Be wary of Allah and have faith in His Apostle. He will grant you a double share of His mercy and a light to walk by, and He will forgive you, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful;78

57:29so that the People of the Book may know that they do not control Allah grace in any wise and that in Allah’s hand is all grace, which He grants to whomever He wishes and Allah is dispenser of a mighty grace.9

Commentary on this passage

Verse 25

1.The following qualifications are required in any representative of Allah to act and to reform the world : (i) He should have the proofs to prove his (designation) post. (ii) He should have complete laws of life. (iii) He should have with him measure of truth and justice so that he can establish justice. (iv) In confrontation with the enemy, he should have such tools with which he can confront the storm of evil. (v) He should be equipped with means to make the life of people happy so that people will think that his message is the life and they do not see the face of death in his mirror. The holy verse by pointing towards these five provisions has proved the stability of the system of the Prophet of Islam (s.a.w.s.). Be it known that iron was sent down from the sky for jihad and help of Allah and prophet. Now how unfortunate are those people that they are using it to fight with Allah and prophet and want to annihilate the religion of Allah. According to explicit world only one iron has descended which is called Zulfiqar and its utility happens to be nothing else but to help Allah and the Prophet (s.a.). As an invisible voice also did announce La saif Illa Zulfiqar Wa-la Fata Illa Ali. (There is no sword but Zulfiqar and there is no youth-chivalrous person-except Ali).

Verse 27

2.In the present age also in the cover of leaving pleasure and living a monastic life as an institution what kind of and how many crimes are committed, can be estimated from the newspapers and in the history of churches a complete study of these crimes can be undertaken. Simple people come closer to these monks on the basis of this, that they have withdrawn themselves from the pleasures of the world and they don’t have anything except living a monastic life and these monks make this closeness as the means of fulfilling their dirty and intentions. Besides churches this act of getting one’s desire fulfilled can be witnessed in some shrines also. Everyone’s soul is same; shape and form may be different.
