Verses 91–102
21. Al-Anbiyaa · The Prophets
Makkan112 verses
وَٱلَّتِىٓ أَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْنَا فِيهَا مِن رُّوحِنَا وَجَعَلْنَٰهَا وَٱبْنَهَآ ءَايَةًۭ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ
21:91And [remember] her who guarded her chastity, so We breathed into her Our spirit, and made her and her son a sign for all the nations.
إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُونِ
21:92Indeed this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord. So worship Me.1
وَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلٌّ إِلَيْنَا رَٰجِعُونَ
21:93They have fragmented their religion among themselves, but everyone of them will return to Us.
فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌۭ فَلَا كُفْرَانَ لِسَعْيِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ كَٰتِبُونَ
21:94Whoever is faithful and does righteous deeds, his endeavour shall not go unappreciated, and We will indeed record it for him.2
وَحَرَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَٰهَآ أَنَّهُمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ
21:95It is forbidden for [the people of] any town that We have destroyed [to return to the world]: they shall not return,
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فُتِحَتْ يَأْجُوجُ وَمَأْجُوجُ وَهُم مِّن كُلِّ حَدَبٍۢ يَنسِلُونَ
21:96until when Gog and Magog are let loose, and they race down from every slope,
وَٱقْتَرَبَ ٱلْوَعْدُ ٱلْحَقُّ فَإِذَا هِىَ شَٰخِصَةٌ أَبْصَٰرُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَا قَدْ كُنَّا فِى غَفْلَةٍۢ مِّنْ هَٰذَا بَلْ كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ
21:97and the true promise draws near [to its fulfillment], behold, the faithless will look on with a fixed gaze: ‘Woe to us! We have certainly been oblivious of this! Indeed, we have been wrongdoers!’
إِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ حَصَبُ جَهَنَّمَ أَنتُمْ لَهَا وَٰرِدُونَ
21:98Indeed you and what [idols] you worship besides Allah shall be fuel for hell, and you will enter it.3
لَوْ كَانَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ءَالِهَةًۭ مَّا وَرَدُوهَا ۖ وَكُلٌّۭ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ
21:99Had they been gods, they would not have entered it, and they will all remain in it [forever].
لَهُمْ فِيهَا زَفِيرٌۭ وَهُمْ فِيهَا لَا يَسْمَعُونَ
21:100Their lot therein will be groaning, and they will not hear anything in it.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ سَبَقَتْ لَهُم مِّنَّا ٱلْحُسْنَىٰٓ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ عَنْهَا مُبْعَدُونَ
21:101Indeed those to whom there has gone beforehand [the promise of] the best reward from Us will be kept away from it.
لَا يَسْمَعُونَ حَسِيسَهَا ۖ وَهُمْ فِى مَا ٱشْتَهَتْ أَنفُسُهُمْ خَٰلِدُونَ
21:102They will not hear even its faint sound and they will remain [forever] in what their souls desire.
Tafsir
Commentary on this passage
Verse 95
1.Here a question arises: When chastisement arrives upon them in the world, then what will be the use of their presence on the Reckoning Day? Is it be possible to chastise twice for one sin? But its clear reply is this, that according to the demand of miracles. They are punished for falsifying the Apostles and also they will be punished on the Doomsday for their infidelity, just as the faithful believers are given rewards for their faith and good virtues.
Verse 96
2.The matter of Gog and Magog requires more investigation and it is certain that Gog and Magog will reappear before the Doomsday and they will be scattered all over the world, whether as the big or small Shaitans of the present time or the communities of Mughal or Tatar or others, as the writers have given different presumptions.
Verse 100
3.We know the fact from here regarding meaningless traditions, in which Allah has been mentioned as entering into hell, and these traditions have insulted Allah’s Unity openly in this way.

Benefit
The words used about Maryam (a.s.) are figurative and should not be taken literally, that it may be disrespect and unethical. We must also know that in Arabic language all the terms about sex are figurative. There are no direct words for them.

Ummat is a group of people having a common view and language. Here Ummat denotes a particular view and religion.

This indicates that deeds without faith are not going to benefit just as faith wilhout deeds is like a tree without fruits.

Please note that Maa is used for those who have no intellect Thus it denotes the idols and not the personalities whom the Jews and Christians considered deities and worshipped than, Ibne Zabini had objected to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) that he has made Isa (a.s.) and Uzair to be doomed to Hell. The Prophet (s.a.w.s.) chastised him saying be was not even conversant with his own language (Arabic) in which the pronoun ‘maa’ is used for non-rational beings while Isa (a.s.) and Uzair were rational individuals.
Benefit
Hadab is a high altitude among plains, Nusul is that which comes out in speed, Taken together it refers to the advent of Gog and Magog,
