Makkan112 verses
21:1Mankind’s reckoning has drawn near to them, yet they are disregardful in [their] obliviousness.1
21:2There does not come to them any new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it as they play around,2
21:3their hearts set on diversions. The wrongdoers secretly whisper together, [saying], ‘Is this [man] not a human being like yourselves? Will you give in to magic with open eyes?’
21:4He said, ‘My Lord knows every word [spoken] in the sky and on the earth, and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.’
21:5But they said, ‘[They are] muddled dreams!’ ‘Indeed, he has fabricated it!’ ‘Indeed, he is a poet!’ ‘Let him bring us a sign, like those sent to the former generations.’
21:6No town that We destroyed before them believed. Will these then have faith [if they are sent signs]?3
21:7We did not send [any apostles] before you except as men to whom We revealed. Ask the People of the Reminder if you do not know.
21:8We did not make them bodies that did not eat food, nor were they immortal.
21:9Then We fulfilled Our promise to them, and We delivered them and whomever We wished, and We destroyed the transgressors.
21:10Certainly We have sent down to you a Book in which there is an admonition for you. Do you not exercise your reason?4
21:11How many a town We have smashed that had been wrongdoing, and We brought forth another people after it.5

Commentary on this passage
Verse 5
1.The style of preaching, the grandeur and the character of the Prophet (s.a.w.s.), eloquence of instruction of the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) made Arabs confused so much that they did not understand what to convey to the people to deviate them and keep them from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.). For this reason they said: The Holy Quran utilizes magic. When this could not be proved, they interpreted the revelation as dreams and when they failed again they referred to it as idle and vain talk. They tasted failure once more so they defined it as poetic exaggeration and concoction of stories. As they knew that it was impossible to reply to the Prophet’s (s.a.) messages. If it had been possible, they would not have invented false accusations.
Verse 10
2.Some writers have say that it is impossible to find an example in history of any community regarding whatever the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) has achieved. A man alone arranged a community, history, rule and that too within a short span of 23 years. It is only due to divine support and is a miracle and nothing besides this.

Zikr is Quran and Muhaddas denotes it that verses and chapters have been revealed anew in a continuous manner. It is the best refutation of the view that considers Quran to be uncreated.
- 3
It indicates towards the fact that Allah cannot tolerate the rejection of His signs that were demanded by the same people. Such a people are surely destroyed.
- 4
It is greatest favour of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) that he transformed the Bedouin Arabs in such a way that they deserved a mention in the Holy Quran. If only they bad the perception to realize this favour. Here Zikr could also be in the meaning of reminder and advice that it contains exhortation and teachings for you and you have also been reminded. Then why don’t you use your reasoning ability?
Benefit
