Makkan123 verses
11:13Do they say, ‘He has fabricated it?’ Say, ‘Then bring ten surahs like it, fabricated, and invoke whomever you can, besides Allah, should you be truthful.’
11:14But if they do not respond to you, know that it has been sent down by Allah’s knowledge, and that there is no god except Him. Will you, then, submit [to Allah]?
11:15As for those who desire the life of this world and its glitter, We will recompense them fully for their works therein, and they shall not be underpaid in it.1
11:16They are the ones for whom there shall be nothing in the Hereafter but Fire: what they had accomplished in the world has failed, and their works have come to naught.
11:17Is he who stands on a manifest proof from his Lord, and whom a witness of his own [family] follows? And before him there was the Book of Moses, a guide and mercy. It is they who have faith in it, and whoever defies him from among the factions, the Fire is their tryst. So do not be in doubt about it; it is the truth from your Lord, but most people do not have faith.2
11:18Who is a greater wrongdoer than him who fabricates a lie against Allah? Such shall be presented before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, ‘It is these who lied against their Lord.’ Behold! The curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers
11:19—those who bar [others] from the way of Allah, and seek to make it crooked, and disbelieve in the Hereafter.

Commentary on this passage
Verse 13
1.To express the sincerity of His Apostles and the grandeur of the Holy Quran. Allah has mentioned the following: (I) Allah challenged them to bring ten chapters like it. (2) He challenged the objectors to bring their friends along and write the chapters of Quran so that you may realise that it is not humanly possible. (3) It has made the helplessness of the objectors to be a proof of revelation and then invited them to Islam. (4) The objectors are said to he worldly people and they were warned of the hereafter. (5) And appointed a witness with the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.), who according to the traditions of Tabari, Razi etc. was Ali Ibne Abi Talib (a.s.). (6) Before this He gave the reference about the Prophet (s.a.) in the book of Moosa (a.s.) as it was also a witness of truth which was worthy to follow for the community and a mercy. (7) Then the result of deniers was stated that their witnesses would also testify against them. Therefore they should stop giving false statements and bring faith on truth.
Verse 17

Benefit
It should be clarified that the challenge to get the whole Quran, ten Surahs or one Surah is not in a sequence. Thus either it means that Quran and Surah denote Quran or some ayats or these ayats have been placed against the order in which they were revealed on the instruction of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) in their respective chapters.

World is the abode of causes. Here everything is accomplished on the basis of the cause. Anyone who can arrange for the cause will achieve the effects. Thus one who has obtained the causes of worldly wealth he will achieve the divine bounties in this world and if one performs the deeds for the Hereafter he shall receive his reward in the Hereafter. The Almighty does not waste the labour of any creature on the basis of the law of causes. Except that it becomes necessary to punish as a warning in this world. But in this case also the causes have their effect and destruction causes destruction.

Some people have related ‘Imaman we Rahma’ with ‘shahid’ and some have related it to the’ Book’. Both are correct from the intellectual sense. The ‘witness’ is also for the benefit of the community and a mercy for the nation and the ‘book’ also has the position of a leader and Mercy, provided it is safe from interpolations. In the tradition of Ahle Bayt (a.s.) ‘Alaa Bayyinah denotes the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) and ‘shahid’ denotes Hazrat Ali (a.s.) who is also mentioned elsewhere as ‘Man indahu Ilmul Kitab’ (one with whom is the knowledge of the Book).
