Commentary on this passage
Verse 133
1.After mentioning about inelegance, the Holy Quran explains pardon, Paradise and harmony. Apparently, the wealth becomes less apparently, but actually it remains safe and brings good fortune and multiplies and due to this he becomes a blessed person.
Verse 135
2.Human being makes mistakes due to his inherent nature and Shaitan deviates him to disappointment from Allah’s mercy and prevents him from good deeds. Then Allah reminds him to seek repentance, as the door of mercy is open for him. Allah says, follow the right path and do not persist in wrong. I am the Pardoner and the Rewarder.
Verse 137
3.Believers are allowed to survey the condition of other communities so that they can reflect regarding the end of the deniers of the Prophets and also can realise how they have squandered by disbelief in Allah’s promise.
Verse 139
4.Other points were also mentioned in the account of the battle of Uhud. Now again their attention is called to the fact that they did not believe in the Prophet (s.a.). They made a grave mistake and were defeated due to it. Nevertheless We show the path of righteousness and that terror and sorrow is of no use. Be bold and step forward. Today you are hurt and injured but infidels were also wounded in the battle of Badr, the circumstances of the world always change. Many martyrs will be born from you. Enemies are not honored by this. Step forward, if your belief is firm. Exaltation is the part of faith and nothing is above faith. I wish O claimant of faith! that you put your faith on the touchstone and being a true follower would succeed on this stage and would fight with them with patience in the way of Allah.

Spending in good times means that they are not arrogant and proud. They spend in hard times and thus they are not miserly or sorrowful. ‘They swallow the anger’ indicates that they are in control of their feelings. Ameerul Mo-mineen Ali (a.s.) told Imam Hasan (a.s.) that nothing is sweeter than swallowing ones anger. They forgive others as the patience and self control is not for any ulterior motive, it is subservient to forgiveness. Amirul Mo-mineen Ali (a.s.) says that we should make forgiveness a gesture of thankfulness for our strength (or power). Allamah Muraghi has quoted from Baghdadi that a slavegirl of Imam Sajjad (a.s.) accidentally dropped a bowl of soup. Imams (a.s.) raise his head and looked at it. She said, “And the swallowers of anger.” Imam (a.s.) said, “1 have maintained patience.” Then she said, “And forgivers of the people.” Imam (a.s.) said, “I have forgive you.” Again she said, “And Allah loves the doers of good.” Imam (a.s.) said, “ I free you for Allah’s sake.”
