Verses 89–97

قَالَ قَدْ أُجِيبَت دَّعْوَتُكُمَا فَٱسْتَقِيمَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعَآنِّ سَبِيلَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
10:89Said He, ‘Your supplication has already been granted. So be steadfast, and do not follow the way of those who do not know.’1
۞ وَجَٰوَزْنَا بِبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱلْبَحْرَ فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ وَجُنُودُهُۥ بَغْيًۭا وَعَدْوًا ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَدْرَكَهُ ٱلْغَرَقُ قَالَ ءَامَنتُ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِىٓ ءَامَنَتْ بِهِۦ بَنُوٓا۟ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
10:90We carried the Children of Israel across the sea, whereat Pharaoh and his troops pursued them, out of defiance and aggression. When overtaken by drowning, he called out, ‘I believe that there is no god except Him in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am one of those who submit [to Him]!’
ءَآلْـَٰٔنَ وَقَدْ عَصَيْتَ قَبْلُ وَكُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
10:91[He was told,] ‘What! Now? When you have been disobedient heretofore and were among the agents of corruption?!2
فَٱلْيَوْمَ نُنَجِّيكَ بِبَدَنِكَ لِتَكُونَ لِمَنْ خَلْفَكَ ءَايَةًۭ ۚ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًۭا مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ عَنْ ءَايَٰتِنَا لَغَٰفِلُونَ
10:92So today We shall deliver your body so that you may be a sign for those who come after you.’ Indeed many of the people are oblivious to Our signs.
وَلَقَدْ بَوَّأْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ مُبَوَّأَ صِدْقٍۢ وَرَزَقْنَٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ فَمَا ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْعِلْمُ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِى بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ
10:93Certainly We settled the Children of Israel in a worthy settlement and We provided them with all the good things, and they did not differ until [after] the knowledge had come to them. Your Lord will indeed judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that about which they used to differ.3
فَإِن كُنتَ فِى شَكٍّۢ مِّمَّآ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ فَسْـَٔلِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَقْرَءُونَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ مِن قَبْلِكَ ۚ لَقَدْ جَآءَكَ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُمْتَرِينَ
10:94So if you are in doubt about what We have sent down to you, ask those who read the Book [revealed] before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your Lord; so do not be among the skeptics.
وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ
10:95And do not be of those who deny the signs of Allah, [for] then you shall be among the losers.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ حَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِمْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
10:96Indeed those against whom your Lord’s judgement has become due will not have faith,
وَلَوْ جَآءَتْهُمْ كُلُّ ءَايَةٍ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ
10:97even though every sign were to come to them, until they sight the painful punishment.
Tafsir
Commentary on this passage
Verse 89
1.The people of Egypt were prepared to revolt against Moosa (a.s.). They were very proud of their wealth. Moosa (a.s.) prayed Allah to destroy their wealth. Allah accepted his prayer but afterwards Moosa (a.s.) was ordered firmness and to continue preaching and that he should not be pleased at the destruction of his enemies.
Verse 92
2.Firon followed the children of Israel to pass through the sea. Moosa (a.s.) prayed and closed the way of sea by throwing his staff and made some different ways in the sea and made net fences in between so that his people can see each other. Firon also saw the way into the sea, he walked in with his army. When the whole army was in the middle of the sea, Allah drowned them. Firon began to seek forgiveness. Allah replied that after misleading the people repentance was not acceptable. Of course your body shall be preserved so that the coming generations may gain a lesson. This incident shows that to follow the way prepared by an Apostle is not the source of salvation, until ones mind is not clear. Otherwise if one walks on the way of Apostle with evil intention to kill him or to destroy his message, one will get nothing but ruin himself.
Verse 94
3.This the best style of preaching that followers should be speaker instead of enemies and they would say, we have seen by this experiment and this is proved true. Now you also do an experiment, perhaps the truth may be become clear to you.

Benefit
When Firon speaks of accepting faith he mentions the God of Bani Israel and this shows that his declaration of faith was only to save himself and Allah also preserved his body that later Firons should not say that Firon remained alive and that no one could drown him. According to the dictionary ‘badan’ is a huge body and this word is also used for armour.

The Prophets can never commit mistakes but the Almighty Allah had warned them thus telling the people in general that they should not expect any prophet to follow them. A prophet can never take such a step.

The ayat clearly shows that even the greatest oppressor is one day regretful of his behaviour but since the time has elapsed for him his regret does not benefit him and actually this regret is the sign of the victory of the oppressed people, whether it may be the repentance of Firon, the meaning of the request to Fatimah Zahra (s.a.), or the weeping of Yazeed in his palace. All these were repentance after their time and thus of no use.

Some people think that this destination denotes Shaam and Palestine, but apparently it refers to Egypt, because the Almighty drowned Firon and enabled the Bani Israel to settle therein.
Benefit
Please note that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) had no doubt in the revelation of the Quran. This problem is mentioned only to show its significance so that every doubtful person can pay attention to this point.
